Hello lovelies, how has your week been?
I’ve had a pretty busy week but it’s been great. Still whizzed by, I think I’d better get used to it as time doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon!
On Sunday, my grandparents came down to take us out for dinner. On recommendation from a couple of colleagues I booked a table at Bella Pizza and Pasta in Folkestone. They have a huge menu with meat and fish dishes in addition to a wide choice of pizza and pasta. When we arrived there were only two other tables occupied, and very shortly we were the only ones there! Luckily it didn’t dampen our experience; the food was freshly cooked and absolutely scrummy. I opted for the saltimbocca romana, which is veal with parma ham and sage in a wine sauce. It was served with vegetables and sautéed potatoes, which had to be ordered separately. When it came to dessert, the waiter wheeled over the trolley – yes it’s a little old fashioned but I love to be able to see the choice on offer. I usually like to compare on size! You know, to get my money’s worth!
After lunch, we went for a walk along the Leas and seafront, rather than going straight home. Getting into the house was a nightmare for Grandad. He has arthritis in his knees and can’t really manage our stairs. They’re steep and the handrail finishes before the top. Living in a town house means that he has to get up stairs to be able to come in! Before they come down again we’ll have to buy another hand rail.
Tuesday after work I took a little detour through the park on my way home. I can’t wait until summer when all the flowers will be out. Apart from the few spring flowers in bloom, the gardens are still a little bleak. The ducks seemed happy though!
On Wednesday, I attended the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Business Awards gala dinner with my work. We were up for three awards and came away having won Business of the Year! The dinner was delicious, although the menu was the same as last year. In the picture above is the main course of pork belly with stuffing, roast potatoes, roast vegetables and a lovely sauce. We had a great night but I didn’t get home until after midnight, so once I’d wound down it was more like 1am before I got to sleep. That’s not ideal on a school night, especially when you’re getting old!
Today I took a half day, the last of my holiday for this year. The office has been so quiet over this last month as everyone is using up their annual leave. I went into town and picked up a few bits including this cute make up bag in Primark! I realised I really needed a new cosmetics purse on Wednesday when I needed to take my make up with me to work in a freezer bag! Classy, eh?! This cute polka dot bag as two separate sections and not only is my initial on the front, each zip pull is an R too! Primark have got most initials to choose from, and at only £3 what’s not to love?
This weekend we’ve got nothing planned, except maybe trying to find a new job for hubby. He’s not happy at the moment. And, I think it’s a little bit selfish on my part but I really want him to find a new job so he’ll stop complaining and being a grumpy bastard! This difficulty is finding something suitable.
Anyways, whatever you’re up to this weekend, have a good one.
P.S. Don’t forget it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday AND the clocks go back too!
