Anyone who knows me will tell you how I’m always cold. So you might be surprised to learn that I actually enjoy autumn. Yes the weather’s getting colder but it gives me the perfect excuse to wrap up warm!
So here are my five reasons for loving autumn:
1 – It’s time to get my winter clothes out the wardrobe (or buy new ones!)
Being able to layer up and get cosy in woolly jumpers is one of the best things about the weather turning chilly. I’ve actually just bought some of those ultra cosy leggings from Primark. I know I’m late for the party, but these things are amazing! When I put them on this morning I actually squealed.
2 – The leaves
I don’t care if it’s clichéd but the colours of autumn are simply beautiful. I love to see the leaves turning, it makes me happy. And it’s so satisfying to crunch through them.

3 – It’s my birthday!
For purely selfish reasons, autumn’s great because it’s when my birthday is. I turned 29 on Monday. I’m very much on the slippery slope to the big 3-0. Scary stuff!
4- It’s nearly Christmas!
I’m a big kid at heart and I can’t help but get excited about Christmas. Once my birthday has passed it’s all about planning for the festive season. I’ve already picked up a gift guide or two, and I’ve started to think about making the Christmas cake and mincemeat for the mince pies. This year we’re spending Christmas Day with hubby’s family and mine on Boxing Day. Question is, how will I decorate the cake this year? This is last year’s attempt:
In keeping with the big kid theme, I get very excited about fireworks! It’s not long until November 5th so it’s time to work out where to go for Bonfire Night. When I was little we’d always go to the local park and I remember feeling the intense heat of the bonfire and then Dad would take us to look around the fun fair. The best part was, it was free!
