It’s Saturday and it’s day 3 of #BEDM – Blog Every Day in May – Rosalilium’s blogging challenge. Today’s prompt topic is ‘weekend morning routine’.
I don’t really have a routine as such. Each morning starts with trying to stay in bed for as long as possible! As hubby will testify, I am NOT a morning person! During the week, my alarm goes off about 7.15 but I’m usually still in bed at 7.30 scrolling through my Twitter timeline! Hubby works 1 in 3 Saturdays and when he does I get the best lie ins ever. I stretch out across our kingsize bed and snooze until at least 10. On Sundays, and Saturdays when he’s not working, he still wakes up around 7. Usually he’ll take himself downstairs and I’ll wake up 3 hours later with the sound of Forza coming through the floor.
I’m pretty lucky that quite often hubby will bring me a cup of tea and plate of toast upstairs while I’m in bed still. Sometimes he brings me tea even when I’m still asleep, which is less helpful but sweet all the same! We don’t have any pets or children yet so have nothing to wake us up apart from the sun coming in the window and our own body clocks. I intend to relish this time while I can! There will come a time in the not too distant future when being up at 6am or earlier will be the norm so I’m making the most of my lie ins while I can get them.
If I haven’t got any plans or it’s raining, quite often I’ll still be in my pyjamas late into the afternoon. I don’t even care if this makes me a slob! It’s my weekend and I’ll do with it what I want :-p Hubby does a physical job so when he’s not working all he wants to do is relax; it can be quite hard to motivate him to do stuff sometimes. But saying that, yesterday he bought us tickets to go to Leeds Castle in a couple of weeks. I’ve been wanting to go for ages but we’ve just never got round to it. We’re going on the day when they’re having a car show so it should be amazing.
If I do decide to leave the house, often I’ll just pop into town to have a mooch around the shops. Usually this involves buying something in Primark! Today, I came home with underwear and two t shirts that came to a grand total of £10.50!
When the sun’s out I might have a stroll by the sea, perhaps pick up some prawns from one of the stalls by the harbour or grab some chips for lunch.
Weekend evenings usually revolve around watching films, either one from our collection or on Netflix. The last film we watched was The Hunger Games, which neither of us had seen before. I thought it was pretty good and want to watch the second one. Otherwise it’s usually me on my laptop and hubby playing Xbox for hours on end!
Sometimes we might go over to the in-laws for Sunday lunch, Dad-in-law does a mean roast dinner with all the trimmings! It’s a epic feast that usually beats me. Tomorrow, they’re coming over here for lunch. I’m doing beef and ale stew in the slow cooker. I’m cheating for dessert; I picked up a tiramisu from Asda. It’s one of my favourite puddings and I haven’t had it in ages so I’m really looking forward to it!
That’s it really! I’d love to say that my weekends are exciting and we’re always doing something new but sadly that’s not really the case. It’s not all doom and gloom though. I’m not actually that boring! Last weekend we went to Bristol to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the weekend before we tried a new tapas restaurant in Folkestone. See? Told you I wasn’t completely boring! lol. (Posts to follow soon on Bristol and tapas)
Now it’s over to you!
What does your weekend routine look like? Go on, make me jealous!
